What did the UFO look like, shape/size in relation to terrestrial objects/lights/colour :

Looked like a shiny red metallic ball size of a hot air balloon that would light up like a star then dim out and dissapear.

Did the UFO do any strange things like hover and then zoom off quickly :

Just stood there. Did not move

What was strange was how the object would light up really bright like a star, dim out, disappear, then light up again really bright, then dim out and dissapear again. No sight of any clouds. Was at a far distance maybe 4 cities north of where I was located. But just stood there. I thought it was a star or maybe reflection of a satellite if it's even possible to see without a telescope, but it was too bright a day to see a star in sight.
