Sighting Details

What did the UFO look like, shape/size in relation to terrestrial objects/lights/colour :

Cigar shape with a solid red light at the front and white light further back. It was travelling very fast in a southerly direction. It was the size of a large plane (no wings)but travelling much faster than any plane I've seen.

Did the UFO do any strange things like hover and then zoom off quickly :

No.

Any additional comments :

It flew across the sea towards Kent - I and a friend saw it from my balcony. We both jumped up and looked down the side of the house and saw it again. We were looking at the dark sky as we heard a helicopter which we thought might be out for a sea rescue. The helicopter was flying towards it, so the pilot must have seen it very close up.
