Sighting Details

What did the UFO look like, shape/size in relation to terrestrial objects/lights/colour :

pale white, cicular, thought it was a plastic bag at low altitude so it could be lit by street lights. Then realised it was travelling in a dead straight line, at some speed and higher up and thus had to be self-luminating. To me it looked like an upside down sea jelly fish as it had some contrast i.e. it was not just plain white. It also looked 3-D even though this was at night. I guess it was ~ 3,000ft up but its size was about 1/3 of a degree i.e. over half the size of the full moon.

Did the UFO do any strange things like hover and then zoom off quickly :

no. I only noticed it after it had past my zenith. But I was able to see that it followed a dead straight line.

Any additional comments :

First time for me. I was out back setting up my telescope to take camera exposures so I was almost able to take a picture but it came over 2 or 3 minutes too early.
