Sighting Details

What did the UFO look like, shape/size in relation to terrestrial objects/lights/colour :

At the time of the sighting it was night-time and the sky was mostly clear with a few clouds. There were 4 UFOs separated apart in an approximate line. Although it's difficult to judge their height relative to the ground, I would say they appeared to be relatively low to the ground similar to an aircraft on final approach - I know this because I live close to Manchester Airport, major international airport in the area and I'm use to seeing commercial aircraft in the area. However, they certainly weren't commercial aircraft. I identified the UFOs as lights in the sky. They were yellow in colour and didn't flash during the time of the sighting. I didn't notice any particular shape to the UFOs, just lights in the sky. It's difficult to judge, but I would say the lights separated by 100-200m

Did the UFO do any strange things like hover and then zoom off quickly :

The UFOs (lights) stayed in the same position along the horizon before they began to move in my approximate direction in a southerly direction (I was stood along the A58 road AKA Crompton Way). As I recall, they didn't move for what must have been less than 30 secs, before 3 of the lights began to move together in a triangular sillohette at a constant speed. Meanwhile one light stayed behind the others for a short while before it began to move in the same direction. The 3 lights forming a triangular shape eventually vanished seemingly without trace as I scanned the sky in the direction they were heading and couldn't locate them. The single remaining light heading in the same direction then shortly later vanished itself at the same location where they other lights vanished. The speed at which they moved towards my location wasn't anything remarkable, similar to the speed of commercial aircraft. However, because of their proximity to each other, it's impossible they could've been commercial aircraft. I also didn't notice the distinctive shape of an aircraft or any other tell-tale signs including wing lights. There was no apparent sound associated with the UFOs. However, it must be noted, I was positioned along a major road with abundant vehicles, making any other generated noise difficult to determine.

Any additional comments :

I wasn't the only witness to these UFOs and my attention was actually drawn to them by two people a short distance ahead - a mother and her young child, whom were staring in the direcion of the UFOs and apparently as dumbfounded as I was as to what these lights could be. I didn't talk to the other witnesses and continued along the road once the lights disappeared.
