What did the UFO look like, shape/size in relation to terrestrial objects/lights/colour :
It was a red light round, I thought it was a plan as it was approaching from the south and I was watching it waiting for the red to start flashing as aircraft do. Aircraft do fly over high. However the light did not flash it appeared to fly from the south at quite some speed faster than I imagine an aircraft as it appeared to fly straight across the sky it started to slowly change into a dull white light, some misty cloud blurred it and I waited for it to reappear in the path it was approaching but it never appeared.
Approached high in the sky as red started to dull into a white light. I realised it was not the same as a aircraft red light as it was larger more fire like and dulled into a white light and vanished after flying into cloud - it did not reapear.

I have seen shooting stars and satellites, etc but this was unlike anything I have seen. If not a UFO I can only assume it may have been a fighter jet high in the sky flying away with its afterburner on?? Maybe it turned and I saw the white light of the cockpit but again there were no flashing aircraft lights - i would welcome any feedback and if anyone else saw it. The weather was very calm starry and quiet - there was no aircraft noise.
