What did the UFO look like, shape/size in relation to terrestrial objects/lights/colour :
I thought it was the Police helicopter at first but it seemed too big and there was no noise coming from it, plus the light at the bottom was the wrong colour as this was too bright and it had an orange glow. I got the binoculars and looked again. I can only describe it as looking like a dandilion clock with all lights around it - it seemed transparent like a bubble and as it rose it seemed to change shape. It was a clear night and seemed to just disappear
I saw it come down in the distance but thought nothing of it - I just thought it was the police helicopter. It seemed to be in the distance near to where the river is (approx three quarters of a mile from my house) but still appeared quite large. It hung in mid-air for a munite or so then started to move upwards and to the right.

I've told people who have tried to explain that it could have been one of the Chinese lanterns that they set off for New Year with the light in it (it might have been) but this seemed too big and it seemed to go too far up. My partner also saw it, he disbelieves in this kind of stuff but even he couldn't explain the lights and the change in shape and the speed.
