orange orbs like objects in they sky - approx 20 to 30

Any additional comments :

a little after midnight just into new year 2010 my Wife, MIL & FIL saw approx 20-30 orange orbs floating in groups of 3 to 4 around the sky. We saw them as we were out watching for fireworks. They seemed to float gracefully moving around from all directions. Saw small numbers whilst walking back to our house - approx ten minutes walk away. Can't explain it!
