Sighting Details

What did the UFO look like, shape/size in relation to terrestrial objects/lights/colour :

It was dark so I'm unsure of size but basically was travelling at about the speed of an aeroplane but instead of flight lights it was a fireball. Speaking relatively it was too slow to be a meterorite and too high up to be a flare or firework, it would burn brightly then burn down then burn brightly again until it disappeared (burnt out, not over the horizon) about 30 seconds later. I could swear it was a plane on fire but I checked the news and there were no reports but my girlfiend and I both saw it and for two relatively intelligent people couldn't explain it...

Did the UFO do any strange things like hover and then zoom off quickly :
