Sighting Details

What did the UFO look like, shape/size in relation to terrestrial objects/lights/colour :

Orange in colour and initially resembled a large star. At one point a white beam of light came from it.

Did the UFO do any strange things like hover and then zoom off quickly :

I first noticed the UFO because of its colour and the fact that it was moving fairly quickly and silently. Its size incresed only slightly as it approached. It suddenly stopped moving for approximately 4 minutes while the beam appeared behind it, going out in the direction it had come from. The UFO then appeared to tip so the beam went up into the sky. It began to move again very slowly in its original direction in this position until it went behind the trees.

Any additional comments :

The sky was relatively clear with an almost full moon, but this object was clearly visible. We suffer no light pollution in our area.
